Tokyo Ghoul √A will never live up to the story progression, plot twist and character development that is found in the manga. The way the story is presented in the manga is just so different. Sensei wrote the manga intelligently. There were a lot of symbolism, hidden tarot cards and subtle clues & foreshadowing which always kept you on the edge. I am a manga reader myself, some parts of Tokyo Ghoul √A was difficult to watch because of how poorly it was handled (example episode 4′s animation, less Kaneki dialogue in the entire season, a lot of censorship, zero explanation about Pierrot/Clowns gang etc etc).
Is it worth watching? As a Suzuya Juuzou fan, I would say yes. Juuzou got a lot of screen time (he was only ever missing in episode 8). He was adorable in every minute that he was present in an episode. The Shinohara and Juuzou interaction was handled well. They added a few scenes (like Suzuya switching sides, Shinohara being the first to see/rescue Juuzou from the Ghoul restaurant) that melted my heart. The Suzuya scenes were almost all good. Plus, Sensei’s end cards at the end of every episode is also one of the good things about S2.
